One handmade pottery utensil holder or vase. made of sand colored stoneware clay or white porcelain clay and glazed with your choice of glaze as seen in the color palette photo and drop down menu. Also available with white glaze. This works well for a vase or it be used to hold tall things like kitchen utensils, knitting needles or tall art supplies. marked with vitrifiedstudio symbol impression on the underside.

Generally I try to glaze to about 2/3 down but you can request 1/3 glazed, 1/2 glazed, 2/3 glazed, or fully glazed. All glaze is applied from the top down as shown. You can also see that the glaze opacity can vary, its harder to control that but I can try to apply a thinner glaze or a thicker glaze if you request it.

-About Furoshiki-

Furoshiki (風呂敷, fu-rosh-ki) is a type of traditional Japanese wrapping cloth. It can be used in multiple ways, for bundling or gift-wrapping all sorts of things. We think this particular lighter-weight furoshiki works well for more delicate wrapping and perfectly as a scarf, and it softens up the more you wear and wash it. One simple and beautiful piece of cloth and the list is endless. Tie it and see!

This design was inspired by the famous cherry blossom mountain view in Japan at sunrise. The elements are subtle, which creates a delicate and abstract pattern when the furoshiki is wrapped, folded, and worn.

We are working with a great printing company called Chiffonez in Tokyo, who specialize in the printing of furoshiki. Urns are made of clay and glaze color that you specify, see the second photo for color choices. Only the upper portion that is glazed will be the glaze color that you select, the lower portion will remain the unglazed clay. All sizes and proportions are approximate and will vary slightly as they are all handmade.The text on the piece is hand impressed with individual letter stamps (not engraved by computer), so the stamping and spacing and justification/ centering of the text will all have a hand impressed, and imperfect quality to it, as seen in the photos of all of urn samples.

The option for colored text is for glaze infilled into the impressed text. There is no charge for this option and you can select your choice of colors for the text glaze. On the lighter colored clay, a darker glaze in the text might leave some residue around the text from the text glaze application process.

ice blue glaze is shown on sand colored stoneware clay in the first and second photo. ice blue and satin turquoise are shown on the three larger urns in the third photo. a heart stamp was selected and it was requested to be infilled with gold (this listing includes the cost to do the gold infill, you can also add the gold infill to any other listing using the special request upgrades listing). This previous customer also requested the forever loved stamp on the back, instead of dates.

Approximate straight urn size
3" height x 3" diameter- size extra small should fit a pre- cremation weight of up to 5 pounds
3.5" h x 3.5" d - size small should fit a pre-cremation weight of up to 20 pounds
5" h x 4" d - size medium should fit a pre-cremation weight of up to 40 pounds (shown in photo)
6.5" h x 4.25" d - size medium-large should fit a pre-cremation weight of up to 60 pounds
8" H x 4.5" D - size large should fit a pre-cremation weight of up to 90 pounds

If you are close to the maximum volume of the urn I would recommend ordering a larger size urn if you want to ensure that the ashes fit. Ash volume can vary and might not calculate to the approximate 1 cubic inch of volume equals 1 pound of pre-cremation weight. For Hydro Cremation, there will be 20% more volume of ashes and please multiply 1.2 to the pre-cremation weight to select the urn size. I would always suggest ordering one size up if have any concerns about the urn size.

This design is based on the Japanese tradition of origami.
Continuing with the theme of folding and wrapping, this design depicting a folded piece of paper, explores three dimensionality through line and pattern. At first glance, a quarter of folded furoshiki appears to be decorated with nothing more than bold stripes, but viewed as a whole, it transforms into an intricate and three-dimensional trompe l'oeil.

A bright blue print gives a fresh, summery look to this design.

Urns are made of clay and glaze color that you specify, see the second photo for color choices. Only the upper portion that is glazed will be the glaze color that you select, the lower portion will remain the unglazed clay. All sizes and proportions are approximate and will vary slightly as they are all handmade.The text on the piece is hand impressed with individual letter stamps (not engraved by computer), so the stamping and spacing and justification/ centering of the text will all have a hand impressed, and imperfect quality to it, as seen in the photos of all of urn samples.

The option for colored text is for glaze infilled into the impressed text. There is no charge for this option and you can select your choice of colors for the text glaze. On the lighter colored clay, a darker glaze in the text might leave some residue around the text from the text glaze application process.

Bone white glaze is shown in the first and second photos, this is a new glaze that is not shown on the palette photos. the glaze is variable, and sometimes looks like a matte cream color and other times has some depth to the glaze. Generally the bone white does not look good when infilled in the text. I would suggest using gloss white in the text, as the bone white can become yellowish in and around the text.

Approximate straight urn size
3" height x 3" diameter- size extra small should fit a pre- cremation weight of up to 5 pounds
3.5" h x 3.5" d - size small should fit a pre-cremation weight of up to 20 pounds (shown in photo)
5" h x 4" d - size medium should fit a pre-cremation weight of up to 40 pounds
6.5" h x 4.25" d - size medium-large should fit a pre-cremation weight of up to 60 pounds

If you are close to the maximum volume of the urn I would recommend ordering a larger size urn if you want to ensure that the ashes fit. Ash volume can vary and might not calculate to the approximate 1 cubic inch of volume equals 1 pound of pre-cremation weight. For Hydro Cremation, there will be 20% more volume of ashes and please multiply 1.2 to the pre-cremation weight to select the urn size. I would always suggest ordering one size up if have any concerns about the urn size.

Straight canister shape with ceramic lid cremation urn with custom name / date and custom color options. Custom made just for you as a pet urn or human ashes urn or use instead to hold special mementos or objects. Glazed only at top above the top line of text.
